Exploring Our Communities
It is Horizon Credit Union’s policy to support charitable, community, and civic organizations. As we volunteer time and invest financial resources in the communities we serve, we are guided by our three pillars of corporate stewardship: Health, Hunger, and Education. Horizon is committed to the communities we serve and we are proud of our employees’ dedication to community service.
We encourage employees to venture into their communities. Our HZCU Go-Givers employee volunteer program encourages each employee to participate in up to 24 hours of paid volunteer service per year. Throughout the year, Horizon employees use their allotted hours to partake in group volunteer opportunities, and individual volunteer activities of their choice. Employees also volunteer many hours outside of the work week. If you see us out and about, make sure to say hello!
Equipping Others for Financial Success
Horizon Credit Union has a long tradition of supporting financial literacy in schools and the community. Our goal is to enhance understanding of key financial concepts and provide valuable content to guide individuals in the direction of their dreams. We partner with Junior Achievement and other organizations to help people in our communities navigate their unique financial journeys.
Stoking our Community Spirit
Community Spirit Days at Horizon are a way for employees to raise money for Horizon members in need. On each of our 24+ Community Spirit Days per year, our employees have the opportunity to donate $5 or more to benefit a designated member in need. In return, they can gear up for Community Spirit Day by wearing jeans and a Horizon t-shirt.
Teaming Up With Fellow Credit Unions
Horizon Credit Union is a regular participant and sponsor of Credit Unions for Kids, a collaboration of Credit Unions that raises funds to benefit 170 Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN). Each year we engage Horizon employees and members in a fundraising campaign to support the CMN Hospitals in the communities we serve.
Boosting Educational Achievement
Horizon Credit Union is honored to offer several scholarships supporting students along their path to academic success!
for Higher Education
Every year, the Horizon Credit Union Board of Directors is proud to offer the Halstead Scholarship in honor of longstanding Board Member, Cliff Halstead. The Halstead Scholarship is available to students attending Eastern Washington University, University of Idaho, and Washington State University.
