Icon Credit Union Members Vote Yes to Merger

We are happy to announce that Icon members have overwhelming voted yes to the Icon / Horizon merger.  The vote was final and certified on July 1.

Each of our credit unions was founded by honest, hard-working folks - like you - who wanted to provide financial services with integrity to their friends and neighbors.  That culture of honest, hometown service will continue even as our organizations combine into one.  We are not just bigger, but better and stronger.  We now have increased expertise and resources to improve your banking experience and our commitment to the communities we serve.

We will continue to keep you informed as we move through this exciting process.  Commonly asked questions are provided below in our FAQ section. We understand you may have additional questions, please feel free to get in touch and we’ll be happy to help. You can read our media release by clicking here.

Why are we merging?

This merger between two independently strong, successful credit unions will bring greater value to our combined members, employees, and communities. This partnership will accelerate our ability to expand member offerings and provide more locations in the Northwest to better service our growing membership.

What does the merger mean for members?

Becoming a larger credit union with combined assets of $1.5 billion will provide opportunities to increase efficiencies and return those savings right back to our members in the form of innovation, technology and services, better rates and higher investments in community giving.

The combined credit union will have 28 branch locations across Washington, Idaho, Montana and Oregon, allowing our combined members more convenient access to a growing branch network throughout the Northwest. In addition, the merger will allow for enhanced mobile technologies to compliment the expanded reach of the combined credit unions.

Who is Icon Credit Union?

Icon Credit Union was chartered in 1952 to serve employees of the Idaho Department of Highways. Located in Boise Idaho, Icon has grown to serve more than 28,000 members from Boise to La Grande, OR. Icon is nearing $340 million in assets and has nine branch locations. Their culture of superior member service and dedication to the communities they serve compliment the core values of Horizon Credit Union.

How will this affect my accounts?

There will be no affect to your accounts or account numbers. You may continue to do business with Horizon Credit Union as you normally do. Once the merger is complete, you will have access to nine additional branch locations in the Boise and La Grande areas.

When will this merger occur?

The credit unions will officially merge on August 1, 2020 with migration of systems to complete on November 2, 2020.
