What is Multi-factor Authentication (MFA)?
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) adds an extra layer of security to your accounts by requiring more than just a password to log in. This makes it much harder for hackers to gain access.
To enable MFA, you’ll need to set it up on your account. This may involve agreeing to text messages or downloading an authentication app like Google Authenticator.
When you log in with MFA enabled:
- Enter your password or PIN.
- Wait for a verification code to be sent via text or generated by your authentication app.
- Enter the code when prompted to complete the login process.
Some MFA systems use biometrics, like fingerprints or facial recognition, for identity verification. Other methods may include receiving a verification code via email or phone. Regardless of the method, MFA makes it much harder for someone to access your account — even if they’ve cracked your password.
